Join us on a journey to responsible gun ownership with our Blended CHP (Concealed Handgun Permit) and NRA First Steps program. This training pathway uniquely combines the NRA Basic First Steps Course’s foundational principles with the detailed insights of the Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit class, enhanced by practical range shooting and basic handgun qualification. This course is is designed for novice gun owners and shooters who have little no experience with firearms and who also desire to acquire their CHP.
Classroom Location: All classroom education will occur at CCCD location. Address: 2186 S Holly St Unit 07, Denver, Co 80222.
Range Location: All live firearms training will occur at Shoot Indoors Denver. (6th & I25)

Section 1: Laying the Groundwork with NRA First Steps
The program begins with the NRA Basic First Steps Course, providing a vital foundation for anyone new to firearms or seeking to deepen their understanding of firearm safety and handling.
Classroom Key Components and Requirements:

- Fundamental Firearm Safety Rules: Emphasizing the NRA’s essential safety principles.
- Firearm Parts and Operation: Detailed insights into firearm mechanics for safe operation.
- Ammunition: Knowledge about various ammunition types and safe handling practices.
- Fundamentals of Marksmanship: Critical shooting principles.
- Firearm Cleaning: Instruction on proper firearm cleaning and maintenance, ensuring longevity and reliability.
- Safe Storage and Transportation: Best practices for secure firearm management.
- Requirements:
- Personal handgun with a case.
- 100 rounds of ammunition.
- Range fee of $24.00.
- Eye and ear protection. (Available at Range)
- Preferred: Holster designed for the handgun and double mag carrier.
Led by NRA Certified Instructors, this course provides a comprehensive understanding of firearm safety, operation, and maintenance.
Section 2: Applying Skills at the Range with Basic Handgun Qualification
(1.5 Hours)
After classroom learning, participants engage in a range session, including a basic handgun qualification. The course of fire will be held at Shoot Indoors in Denver (6th & I25) after a 40 minute lunch break. This practical experience allows participants to apply and demonstrate their skills, focusing on shooting accuracy, safe handling, and confidence. After the course of fire, we will head back to CCCD classroom to finish the CHP course.
Section 3: Enhancing Skills with the Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit Course (Non NRA Course)

Our Colorado CHP course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skills necessary for concealed carry, combining legal education with practical insights.

Valuable Resources and Certifications for Participants:
Upon completion of our training, participants are well-equipped not only with knowledge and skills but also with essential resources. Each participant receives the NRA Pistol Handbook and a Safety Card, along with the Winchester Marksmanship Program book, a package valued at $25.00. These materials serve as valuable references for safe handling, maintenance, and skill enhancement long after the course has ended. Additionally, attendees will be awarded an NRA First Steps Certificate, showcasing their completion of this fundamental course. For the Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit portion, they will also receive a CHP Certificate, which is essential for their application with the sheriff’s office.
