Per SB760, All new security guard applicants must complete 12 hours of initial training from a Maryland Police Training Commission-approved provider. Applicants must submit a certificate of completion with their application. Security guards renewing their certification must complete 8 hours of training and submit a certificate of compliance.

 

The 8-hour Maryland Security Guard Renewal Training refreshes essential skills and knowledge on legal compliance, use of force, de-escalation, and crisis management. This course ensures certified guards meet state standards for safe, lawful, and effective service.
