Description
Whether you are in a tornado emergency, mass shooting situation, or other man made or natural emergencies this course prepares you and gives you the knowledge to assist during mass casualty situations. We will discuss the triage system to include color codes and how to determine the trauma level. This course also provides the skills to control major bleeding such as gun shots, and other penetration wounds, wounds where objects are protruding out the victim. This class is all about stabilizing the wounded until medical help arrives. In a mass casualty situation, you may have to assist to save people's lives. Students will learn the START Triage System and participate in a mock triage exercise where they will be given the opportunity to properly triage 10 victims of a mass shooting. We will also discuss controlling severe bleeding with tourniquets, hemostatic bandages, and regular bandages. Using these in a mass casualty scenario.
Topics Covered
Students should already know basic first aid and stop major bleeding. This course is how to setup trauma triage systems and an active shooter situation. This proactive class will simulate mass casualties and team members will address many different trauma situations and will have to triage and provide first aid as needed.
Expectations and Outcomes
At the end of this course you will understand triage systems for mass casualty situations. You will be able to address triage and provide first aid based on the triage of patients. Certificate is provided at the end of completion.

Requirements
Wear clothing which can be on the floor and potentially come in contact with training blood, washes out for most clothing.
