Description
The NC Concealed Carry class covers a lot of great material, but surprisingly it usually does not cover drawing and firing from a holster, or safe reholstering techniques, at least not in any detail. But holster training is vital: reholstering in particular can be incredibly dangerous if done poorly or cavalierly. This class fills that gap.
This is a class focused on concealed carry, so students should have the ability to conceal their holster. However, we will begin our work without concealment. So if your concealment garment is, say, just an untucked t-shirt, you'll need to tuck it in at first.
We start with some brief discussion and demos regarding good and bad holsters. Then we will "rope" our guns to make them as safe as possible, and work on reholstering techniques and the draw until we get comfortable with safely performing those actions. I will also make some holsters with training guns available so students can try out alternative techniques and carry positions.
Then we will move on to livefire, and we will work on the presentation from the holster. Making an accurate shot quickly is commonly the decisive factor in defensive shootings: to do this requires a skillful drawstroke and presentation. (For purposes of this class we are much more interested in technique than speed, and there will be no stress testing or timers involved.)

Requirements
You must consult with the instructor about your holster prior to coming to class. Serpa holsters, nylon holsters, crossdraw or shoulder holsters, purse or other off-body holsters are not permitted. The student must have a kydex or leather strongside or appendix belt holster. Either inside-the-waistband or outside-the-waistband is acceptable. Range holsters like Fobus are fine. However, remember that you must be able to conceal the holster for part of the class.
