About St. Joseph's Family Defense School
If you are new to firearms, and maybe a little uncomfortable around them, I speak your language. Unlike a lot of firearms instructors, I did not grow up around guns. My early exposure to firearms was very limited. I did spend 6 years in the Army National Guard, where I was a photojournalist, so I handled firearms very little after Basic Training.
After a gap of a dozen years or more, I got into shooting around 2008. Since them, I have spent many hours volunteering as an instructor with Project Appleseed, and more recently I have focused on my pistol skills. I have taken pistol classes with Ernest Langdon, Craig Douglas, Tatiana Whitlock, John Murphy, Claude Werner, among others, as well as classes at the Tactical Defense Institute in Ohio and The Range Complex here in North Carolina. I compete in pistol matches regularly and I am well versed with autoloaders as well as revolvers.
My main interest is in teaching pistol classes for beginners, but I also enjoy teaching classes on pepper spray. Feel free to contact me about private lessons apart from any listed group classes.
I am located in Walnut Cove, NC, just north of Winston Salem.
