Description

A full day course that informs the basics of using a handgun for defensive purposes. Legal and moral issues presentation, developing the proper mindset, and gear selection. Includes draw and presentation from concealment, engaging targets with full accountability to as far as 15 yards, use of cover or concealment and delivering accurate fire under constraints.

Includes a qualification course of fire and a brief written test which must be passed to receive a certificate of completion. The certificate will satisfy the training requirements for a Wyoming license to carry.

Requirements

Students will need to bring

  • A good handgun
    • Caliber .380 ACP, 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP are all acceptable for semi-autos
    • Revolvers in caliber .32 or larger are welcome
  • Holster, belt, and magazine pouch, at least two magazines
    • Holster should be made specific to the gun being carried in it
    • Leather or Kydex
    • Holsters that retain the pistol by means of a lever which must be pushed by the trigger finger to draw, such as the Serpa, are not allowed.
    • This is a concealed carry class, openly carried holsters and battle belts are not allowed, we want to train you on the gun you are going to actually carry using the gear you are going to carry it with
  • A ball cap and concealment garment (vest, jacket, windbreaker,over shirt, polo shirt,  etc),
  • Eye and ear protection, electronic hearing protection is preferable
  • Wyoming weather is unpredictable, have extra layers available (we train rain or shine)
  • A cooler with soft drinks, water, snacks and lunch will be needed, for a working lunch on site. We will not be leaving the campus for lunch
Students should expect to fire up to 200 rounds in class and should bring at least that much ammunition
