Description
Beginners Pistol is a class geared towards those that are new to handguns that are interested in learning gun safety and how to shoot. You will know how to shoot well after this class.
The CWP portion is an abbreviated version of our popular CWP class that covers just the SLED required material necessary to pass the exam and obtain your permit.

Students are given a comprehensive resource packet to take home that summarizes the content of the class. The packet also includes the completed application and instructions with how to process with SLED.
This class entails 8 hours of training to complete each of the above components
The class is held at Mid-Carolina Rifle Club and is geared for no more than 8 students at a time although exceptions can be made.
The student does not need to possess a pistol for the class.
A .22LR pistol is provided along with 50 rounds of ammunition. More .22LR ammunition will most likely be needed and is available for purchase for $10 a box.
Students are more than welcome to bring their own pistols; however, holsters are required in this case.
Higher caliber gun rentals are available. Ammunition in 9mm, .380ACP, 40S&W, and 38 special are available for purchase in class.

Expectations and Outcomes
Passing students will leave this class with a completed SLED CWP application and a certificate of completion. Students will be provided instructions for where to submit the SLED CWP application to ensure the fastest possible receipt of their permit.
Students will have a solid understanding of how to properly handle handguns and shoot well.
Students also leave the class with a comprehensive resource packet that includes all of the information covered in class.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
The things you will need for the class are:
- This class includes a .22LR pistol for use and 50 rounds of ammunition.
- Please wear a belt suitable for a holster.
- Pens/pencils and paper for taking notes. Electronic devices are allowed for note taking.
- At least 75 rounds of ammunition if you bring your own pistol. This is available in the class, if it’s more convenient for you. We carry 9mm, .380 ACP, 40S&W, 38 Special, and .22LR.
- Eye and Ear protection, and a baseball cap. We do encourage you to add electronic hearing protection to your gear. We'll have electronic ear protection available for purchase in class at the very competitive price of only $44.99 that includes a set of eye protection.
- Higher caliber pistols are available to rent for a minimal fee of $10. (Please let us know in advance if you need this option if not indicated at checkout.)
- If you choose to bring your own pistol, please have an on the waist holster made for the pistol you will be qualifying with, preferably the style you intend to carry (OWD, IWB, IWB Appendix, etc.). Your holster must agree with your dominant hand (left handed or right handed).
- A belt that allows you to wear your holster.
- Having extra magazines is always a plus, bring all that you have.

- We will break for a 30 minute lunch. Please bring a bagged lunch. There will not be time to go out. We have a microwave at our Mid Carolina Rifle Club location.
- Any snacks you might want throughout the class.
- Bottled water will be provided.
- No open toed shoes are permitted.
- No low cut shirts are permitted. It hurts when hot brass goes down your shirt.
