Description
This is the entire course, and it covers way more than what the state of Texas requires to apply for your LTC (License to Carry). It includes the classroom portion along with the range. The class size is limited, so you will not feel intimidated or overwhelmed by being in a large group, plus it provides more personal interaction.
The $50 course fee is paid at the time of registration and covers the classroom and the range qualication. There will be a $18 range fee you will pay directly to the range the day of the class.
This class will cover everything the state requires to apply for your LTC, formerly referred to as a Texas CHL (Concealed Handgun License). When you're done, you'll get the certificate you need to send your LTC Application to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) with your LTC application for a concealed carry license.
I always hear, "You are going to think this is a stupid question," but there is no such thing, so reach out by phone or email. Believe me, I have heard it all. I could go into a bunch of details here, but most people just scratch their heads and get more confused.
Can I get my LTC online in Texas?
Yes, you can do the classroom portion online. However, having a firearms instructor with real-world experience explain things in person so you can ask questions has many advantages. This course is not Death by PowerPoint. If you take the online approach, you will have to go through the hassle of finding a local instructor for the shooting part, which can cost you more time and money.
Can you open carry a pistol in Texas without an LTC?
Yes, but there is a long list of added benefits and more areas you can carry when you have your LTC. Plus, going through a class will help you understand the laws.
Even though this is a concealed carry class, many people do not intend to carry a firearm but want one in their home. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about firearm safety and the laws related to self-defense. A typical class is nothing like most of you would imagine.
Some individuals do not want to carry a gun. They just want to keep one around the house. Again, you and many others who feel the same way will be there. Nothing says you must apply for your LTC, but it's an excellent chance to get familiar with firearms.
The instructor for this class will be Brian Armstrong. He is a licensed firearms instructor in multiple states and writes for leading industry publications like USA Carry, The Truth About Guns, Crossbreed, and Law Enforcement Today.
