Description
This is an instructor development course meant to help you better teach individuals who have experienced a traumatic event. Often times people who have been a victim of violence, or who have experienced an event that made them feel helpless, will seek out personal protection training to help restore a sense of control. However, this type of training (whether firearms, combatives, or less lethal options) can trigger a response that can leave them worse off than when they came to class and leave the instructor at a loss for what to do. There are also potential legal and reputation concerns for the instructor to consider.
In this class we will define the types and causes of trauma, explore how that may manifest on the range or in the classroom, and provide tips and tools to help protect the instructor and keep everyone safe, including how to implement the principals of Trauma Informed Care into your business.
Expectations and Outcomes
Students will develop an understanding of what trauma is and how it can manifest in training. They will be provided with tools and information that will help ensure the wellbeing and safety of themselves and their students.
