Description
The goal of the Basic Firearms Safety Course is to teach the basic knowledge and skills and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of your firearm/s.
In this course, students will receive the Firearm Safety pamphlets on safety and terminology. Lessons include the rules of safe gun handling, identifying various firearms, ammunition, cleaning, storage, and safe loading and unloading procedures. Students will also get hands-on experience with the most common types of handguns, rifles and shotguns. The class generally runs for five to six hours, and is usually run over the course of two, consecutive evenings.

Expectations and Outcomes
- Identify the principal parts of a firearm, and types of actions.
- Identify the rules for the safe handling of firearms.
- Demonstrate how to safely operate firearms.
- How to grip a firearm.
- Proper stances with sight alignment.
- Familiarization in revolvers, semi-automatic handguns
- Recognize how to apply these lessons on firearm familiarization and to use them when its needed.
- How to work through firearm malfunctions.
Every student that passes the course will receive a certification.
