Description
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. The NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor.
Topics Covered
The student must complete the required sections of the State mandated training (to include the legal section if required) and Range drills/qualifications.
- Lesson 1: Firearm Safety (1 hour) (Mandatory)
- Lesson 2: Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense (2 hours)
- Lesson 3: Ammunition Knowledge and Defensive Ammunition Selection (1 hour)
- Lesson 4: Basic Defensive Pistol Skills (2 hours)
- Lesson 5: Drawing from Concealment (2 hours)
- Lesson 6: Loading and Stoppage Remediation (2 hours)
- Lesson 7: Mindset, Responding to an Attack and the Aftermath (2 hours)
- Lesson 8: Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment (2 hours)
- Lesson 9: Firearm Cleaning and Maintenance (1 hour)
- Lesson 10: Sport Shooting and Training Activities (1 hour)
Expectations and Outcomes
The objective of this course is to teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal protection.
Course length is determined by the Instructor, to meet your State’s requirements for a CCW permit. Additionally, students may complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.
Students must demonstrate shooting proficiency via a score of 80/100 or 80% to receive a Course Completion for the NRA CCW Course.

Driver's License
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
Quality Pistol appropriate for concealed carry – recommend minimum of 9mm or .38 Special
Quality Strong Side Hip Holster – recommend form fitted leather or kydex, must cover trigger/trigger guard
Quality Belt, designed to carry a holster and a firearm strongly recommended
Quality ammunition suitable for practice. At least two hundred rounds. No reloads permitted.
Spare magazines or speed loaders with appropriate pouches – at least two additional (3 total)
Clothing appropriate for concealed carry - Concealment garment can be open front (jacket/button shirt) or not open fron (loose fitting polo shirt/t-shirt) Method of draw from consealment is dependent on the student.
Eye protection
Hearing protection - recommend electronic
Sun-screen/bug spray (outdoor range)
Headgear if desired
