Description

This class is intended for shooters who want to learn the skills to utilize their red dot optic sight in a precision shooting situation.

Advanced level shooters will find this class to be an excellent review of their existing skills & experience new drills and techniques.

This class is intended to instill in students the mindset and skills to allow them to use their red dot pistols as a precision defensive tool in a deadly force encounter.

Students will come away from this class with a better understanding of their optics, and a higher level of confidence in their ability to effective operate and wield it.

It is encouraged to run this class with the gear you would normally have in home defense or self defense situation. LE are encouraged to run this class in your duty gear.

Benjamin DeWalt is the co-founder and senior instructor of OnSight Firearms Training. Benjamin has been a life-long martial artist and firearms enthusiast, starting as a kid with long guns in western Pennsylvania. His accreditations include Sig Sauer Academy Master Pistol Instructor, Rangemaster Certified Master Instructor, various NRA instructor certifications, Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Instructor certification, Massachusetts State Police Certified Firearms Instructor and other instructor certifications. Benjamin has been teaching various defensive-focused shooting classes since 2005. He has also been teaching martial arts and hand-to-hand self-defense since 2010. Benjamin’s preferred classes to teach are all levels of pistol shooting, hand-to-hand combatives, and defensive shotgun.

THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER CLASS!

Students should know and be able to perform all aspects of safe firearm handing. Students should be familiar with the basics of shooting (grip, stance, breath control, trigger control, follow through, etc.) Students should be familiar with and comfortable working from a holster, and be proficient in magazine changes, malfunction clearance and working single hand.

Class Requirements:

-Quality functional semi-automatic pistol with QUALITY Pistol Mounted Optic .(Trijicon RMR, Holosun, Delta Point, RomeoPro, etc.)

-5 magazines minimum

-Minimum of 400 rounds of brass cased ammunition (no steel or aluminum cased ammunition)

-QUALITY kydex holster (OWB,IWB, AIWB) —PLEASE NO flimsy nylon or cloth holsters. NO BLACKHAWK SERPA, Alien Gear, Uncle Mikes or “universal fit” holsters.

We recommend holsters from Dark Star Gear, Raven Concealment, Blackpoint Tactical, Black Center Tactical, C&G Holsters & G-Code.

-Magazine or loading device pouches / magazine carrier, etc.

-Ammunition dump pouch (optional)

-Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide

-Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning with good ankle support.

-Clothing suitable for training in any weather – long pants – long sleeve shirt, hoodie or jacket for cold weather.

-Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses

-Earmuffs and earplugs

-Notebook and pen for note taking

-Humble willing to learn attitude
