This 8-hour basic pistol instructional class is very informative, hands-on, and fun!! 🤗
During this course, students will spend six (6) hours in the classroom and two (2) hours on the range, learning how to develop safe firearm habits, participating in both classroom and range activities learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols and, time permitting, students may have the option to dry-fire a laser simulator in the classroom before engaging in live-fire.
Successful completion of this course will earn the student the certificate required to apply for a Concealed Handgun License (CHL/CCW) from the State of Ohio, if desired.

- Classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and/or semi-automatic pistols
- NRA’s rules for safe gun handling
- Ammunition components and identification
- Diagnosing and clearing basic firearm malfunctions
- General range rules and general range commands

- Conditions for the acceptable use of deadly force

- Information about Ohio’s Concealed Carry laws

Expectations and Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, which includes achieving passing scores on the written exam and shooting qualification, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion from the NRA.
Successful completion of this course will also earn the student the certificate required to apply for a Concealed Handgun License (CHL/CCW) from the State of Ohio, if desired.

Documentation Requirements
A valid Driver License and a valid Ohio CCW/CHL is strongly recommended.
Student must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Person - a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) and possess a valid Driver License or Government Issued Identification to participate in this course. Please note that Visa holders (Work, Travel, Etc.) are not eligible to participate in any Northpointe Training LLC courses involving firearms.
This course is for individuals who are not disqualified from possessing and/or using a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, are of good repute, and possess a valid Driver License or Government Issued Identification.
Requirements
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- Valid Driver License
- Notetaking materials
- Firearm (if needed, this may be borrowed from Parma Armory) – Please note .22 caliber firearms are NOT acceptable for this class
- 50 rounds or more of proper factory ammunition for your firearm – NO RELOADS!! FYI, the more ammo you have, the more we will be able to shoot. If needed, ammo may be purchased from Parma Armory.
- Eye and ELECTRONIC ear protection
- A brimmed hat or cap
- Closed-toe shoes or boots (NO dress shoes, flip flops, sandals, etc.)
- Drinks, snacks, and lunch. Please note that due to the amount of material we will need to cover, we will have a working lunch. Door Dash, Grub Hub, etc. are available to deliver to our location
- A Positive Attitude!!
