Description
So, what is the definition of success when dealing with a potential criminal event?? The definition of success is: βTo quickly make ONE good FIRST decision based on visual stimuli & instantly act on it. Be confident, decisive, efficient, & explosive!!β
From the time that a bad guy chooses you, you will have an extremely limited amount of time to make a decision on how you will respond. THEY choose how and when - YOU must make sure that your responding actions are confident, quick, and decisive!!Image Based Decisional Drills is an exercise to help people make better decisions when confronted with self-defense situations. Students are shown a card with an image and are asked to quickly react to the image by using a set of tools in front of them.
According to Haig Kouyoumdjian, PH. D. of Psychology Today, a large body of research indicates that visual cues help us to better retrieve and remember information. Based upon research outcomes, the effective use of visuals can decrease learning time, improve comprehension, enhance retrieval, and increase retention.
The objective of IBDD is to help you make correct first decisions using images to learn to react, act, and respond quickly and effectively to different situations and potential criminal events.
Topics Covered
The course will begin with us measuring the speed of your decisional processes by gauging your reactions to images on the presentation screen using a ten-second timer. This is a fun way to get your adrenaline flowing and your mental gears moving!!
Next, we will talk about the eight most common "decision options". These options will be discussed in detail, including the pros and cons of each and we will examine why proxemics are so important, making distance relative decisions, evaluating capability, tool cycling, learning to "see more,β how to quickly recognize changes in your environment, identifying pre-assault cues, and so much more!!
Finally, we will progress to hands-on training using techniques that will involve practicing with inert (water) pepper spray units, understanding the study of proxemics, using verbal commands by focusing on ASK, TELL, & MAKE, how to properly make 911 calls, and more.
After this training you will be able to answer the following questions: Would you make a good witness?? What is your moral compass?? Do you have altered perceptions?? What is your arousal level and at what point can you work through the adrenaline rush and confusion?? We will crawl, walk, run, and then sprint with quick cognitive stacking of decisions and tool cycling!!Expectations and Outcomes
