Description

This nine-hour, non-shooting certification course will be conducted both in a classroom and on a range and it focuses on preparing a student to become a Range Safety Officer through learning the fundamentals of range safety and safe range operation during live-fire events.

Range Safety Officer candidates will learn:

NRA’s rules for safe gun handling

The roles and responsibilities of the Range Safety Officer (RSO)

Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and their use

Range inspection procedures

Range rules

How to conduct range safety briefings

How to execute Range emergency procedures

How to diagnose and resolve firearm stoppages and malfunctions

Expectations and Outcomes

Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive a Range Safety Officer (RSO) Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and a Course Evaluation form.

Successful completion of the NRA Range Safety Officer Course is dependent on:

The Student’s participation and performance in class discussions and exercises.
The Student attaining a score of 90 percent or higher on the open book RSO Examination. 

PLEASE NOTE: There is an NRA certification and processing fee after successful course completion.

Documentation Requirements

Please bring a current, unexpired Ohio Driver License or CCW/CHL to class. If you are a current NRA Member and wish to have your NRA Member ID# printed on your certificate, please be prepared to provide this number. 

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

The instructor requires a copy of your Concealed Carry Weapons permit once you register.
