Description
The NRA’s Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training (FIRST) program provides new rifle owners with a clear and practical introduction to safe firearm handling. This course is designed to build confidence and establish the foundation every rifle owner needs for safe and responsible use.
Topics Covered
“Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, become familiar with the parts and operation of their specific rifle model, review ammunition basics, and practice core shooting fundamentals. Instruction also covers rifle cleaning, maintenance, and opportunities for continued skill development. On the range, students will participate in live-fire training and complete a nationally standardized shooting qualification under the supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor.”
