Topics Covered
1. Understand the basics of ballistics and trajectory of AR-15 ammunition at extended ranges
2. Learn to effectively use your rifle's sighting system (iron sights or optics) for accuracy at varying distances up to 300 yards
3. Master proper breathing techniques and trigger control for improved midrange accuracy
4. Develop skills to accurately estimate range within the 100-300 yard spectrum
5. Practice shooting from various positions (prone, kneeling, seated) to maximize stability and accuracy at longer ranges
6. Learn to make efficient sight adjustments for engaging targets at different distances
7. Understand the impact of different ammunition types on midrange performance

Expectations and Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will have the knowledge and practical experience to effectively engage targets from 100 to 300 yards with their AR-15, significantly extending their rifle's practical range and overall shooting capabilities.

Requirements
Equipment List:
- AR-15 rifle in good working condition
- Sighting system:
- Iron sights, OR
- Magnified optic (1-4x, 1-6x, or similar), OR
- Red dot with magnifier
- Sling
- At least 3 magazines
- 300 rounds of ammunition (match grade recommended for better accuracy at distance)
- Eye and ear protection
- Shooting mat or pad for prone position
- Bipod or front bag for stabilization (optional but recommended)
- Small notebook and pen for recording data
- Cleaning kit (bore snake, CLP, etc.)
- Water and snacks
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Hat with brim to shield eyes from sun
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
Optional but useful items:
- Spotting scope or binoculars
- Knee pads for shooting positions
- Small tool kit for sight adjustments or minor repairs
- Chamber flag
Please ensure all firearms are unloaded and in a safe condition when you arrive at the range. Magazines should be loaded prior to class to maximize range time.
