Description
This is the 40 hour Texas law enforcement firearms instructor course, meeting Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) training standards.
This session is open to commissioned law enforcement officers (who will receive credit through TCOLE) and private sector instructors previously certified by the NRA, USCCA, Rangemaster or other entity to teach basic students.
Students that do not have a TCOLE PID will receive a certificate from Cornerstone Performance for 40 hours of instruction including 8 hours of red dot training.
Topics Covered
Day 1: Shoot the TCOLE pre qual (will be sent to students prior to class), with discussion of drill development and purpose. Students will be taught a Tactical Pistol course (similar to what they will teach to others on day 5), with Train the Trainer content.
Day 2: Students will develop a pistol drill, teach the drill and run the firing line. Each students' drill, presentation and instruction of that drill will be discussed, analyzed and improved. Students will complete the shotgun portion of the TCOLE firearms instructor course.
Day 3: Classroom and range work on instructor development.
Day 4: Slide mounted red dot instructor development.
Day 5: Students in the course will teach a Tactical Pistol course, with supervision and coaching of their instruction by the course staff.
Expectations and Outcomes
Students will earn a TCOLE Firearms Instructor certification, including instruction in pistol and shotgun skills, plus slide mounted red dot sight instructor training.
Students will gain experience teaching others, by delivering a Tactical Pistol on the final class day.

Law enforcement credentials or instructor certification documentation for private sector instructors.
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
Students will need a centerfire handgun, 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP caliber, with 3 magazines. 1500 rounds of practice ammo (Blazer Aluminum NOT allowed).
A rigid outside the waistband strong side holster, SERPA holsters NOT allowed for use in this course.
For the 4th day, students will need a pistol with a slide mounted red dot sight. Rental guns are available.
For the 2nd day, students will need a 12 ga shotgun (pump or semiauto). Ammo count will be emailed to students prior to class day. Loaner shotguns are available.
Eye and ear protection.
Students will bring their own food for lunch each day.
