Description

Welcome to the Trauma Ready Initiative, a program designed to equip individuals, communities, and organizations with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to traumatic injuries, particularly those involving massive hemorrhage. This introductory course is your first step toward becoming a certified lifesaver and building a safer, more prepared community.

Course Overview

The Trauma Ready Initiative combines engaging lectures with hands-on practice to ensure participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Upon successful completion, participants will earn a Stop the Bleed Certification, valid for two years, and be prepared to pursue advanced certifications in trauma care.

What You'll Learn

1. Tourniquet Use

Master the application of tourniquets to control life-threatening bleeding from extremities. Learn when and how to use this critical tool effectively.

2. Wound Packing

Discover the techniques for packing deep wounds, especially in areas where tourniquets cannot be applied, such as the groin or neck. This skill is vital for controlling junctional bleeding.

3. Pre-Hospital Trauma Care Mindset

Develop the mindset needed to act swiftly and confidently in high-pressure situations. Understand the importance of situational awareness and decision-making in trauma scenarios.

4. The MARCH Acronym

Learn the MARCH framework, a systematic approach to trauma care:

- M: Massive Hemorrhage – Control life-threatening bleeding first.

- A: Airway – Ensure the airway is open and clear.

- R: Respiration – Address breathing issues and seal chest wounds.

- C: Circulation – Prevent shock and manage blood flow.

- H: Hypothermia/Head Injuries – Protect against hypothermia and assess for head trauma.

5. Community Preparedness

Understand how to prepare yourself and your community to respond effectively to traumatic injuries. Learn how to build a culture of readiness and resilience.
