Halo Defense Training & Tactics is a firearms and tactics training company. We specialize in conceal carry, active threat training for both civilians and businesses, among other important firearms training and tactics. We want to improve our client's firearms handling and decision making skills.

Typically our range training and Concealed Carry Courses are taught in Wood River, Illinois (Madison County). Many of our active threat courses are mobile and taught at our client's businesses.

Experience:

As Lead Instructor and Founder, I am an active law enforcement officer of 20 years, currently assigned in patrol as a Patrol Sergeant, in one of the larger departments in Madison County, Illinois. I supervise a patrol shift and qualify active/retired police officers with their firearms. I also train officers in use of force, several less-lethal weaponries and tactics.

?In 2008, I was assigned to a local Tactical Response Team (TRT), where I began my training in Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT). In 2009 I joined a regional Special Response Team (SRT) comprised of approximately 40 tactical operators which serves 11 counties in Illinois. The SRT is a fully functional team that serves high risk search warrants, responds to barricaded/hostage incidents along with any other situation requiring specialized trained officers. In 2018 I left the SRT team, retiring from the Team as a Team Leader (Also known as a Squad leader). As a Team Leader, I prepared and oversaw training for the SRT several times a year and also developed and presented op orders for high risk search warrants.

?I have been instructing the Illinois 16/8 Concealed Carry Course since early 2016 and have taught students of many different experience levels. I also teach the 3 hour refresher course and have been teaching since 2019. I believe Halo Defense Training & Tactics sets itself out because all instructors are not only highly qualified in instructing how to shoot. We also provide instruction on when it is justified.

I have experience in large scale Active Threat response training for both armed security along with civilian response. Many of my current clients being armed security for both St. Louis area Universities along with a Community College in Illinois (St. Louis Metro East) . I have instructed a Concealed Carry refresher course for Law Enforcement so they could have a better understanding in Illinois Concealed Carry laws and I assist in instructing Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. I enjoy imparting my knowledge to my students so they can better themselves while providing them a tactical advantage.
