Expectations and Outcomes
By the end of the Maryland Wear and Carry Permit class at DMB Ballistics LLC, students will have accomplished the following:
Understanding of Maryland Firearms Laws: Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of state and federal firearms laws, including self-defense, defense of others, and safe storage of firearms.
Handgun Safety and Operation: Students will learn about handgun mechanisms, safe operation, and hands-on training to ensure proficiency.
Marksmanship Skills: Students will demonstrate their ability to safely handle and accurately shoot a handgun, meeting the minimum score requirement of 70% accuracy.
Legal and Safety Knowledge: Students will be educated on the legal aspects of carrying a handgun, including prohibited locations and reporting requirements.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Handgun Training, which is necessary to apply for the Maryland Wear and Carry Permit. This certificate verifies that they have met all the training requirements set by the Maryland State Police.

- Valid Drivers License
- Liability Waiver
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
What to bring:
- Reliable semi-automatic pistol in a standard caliber (22LR, 380 ACP, 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP)
- Minimum of 2 magazines
- 200 rounds of factory new, non-hollow point ammunition (FMJ/TMJ/coated ammunition is fine). No remanufactured or reloaded ammunition.
- Sturdy belt
- Safe, durable holster (discussion point)
- Lunch There will be a 45-minute break for lunch on both days
- Water
- The range is located on a farm, so appropriate attire should be worn
- Live Fire will still be conducted in the rain
- Sunscreen
- Good attitude and willingness to learn
As part of the Maryland Wear and Carry Class, there are two mandatory assessments you need to complete to receive credit for the course:
Pre-Class Assessment: This assessment will be conducted before the classes begin on your own to gauge your current knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
Post-Class Assessment: After the completion of the classes, you will need to take a final assessment to evaluate your learning and comprehension of the material covered during the course.
Both assessments are essential and must be completed to earn credit for the class, but are not required to start filling out your permit. Your active participation and dedication to these evaluations will ensure that you gain the necessary knowledge and skills.
