Description

Are you ready to learn the basics of shooting and gun safety with a professional instructor? Join us for the Basic Pistol class! This class is designed specifically for those who are just starting out in shooting and guns. Our professional instructors will show you the basics of safely using a handgun, including proper techniques when shooting and how to maintain and care for your handgun.

This basic pistol class is designed for those who have little to no experience with firearms. We will provide laser training pistols for students to use, but if you have your own handgun you are welcome to bring it along as well, but NO LIVE AMMO!

Our experienced instructor(s) will go over the topics of proper gun safety, handling, loading/unloading and handling misfires. You will learn about the proper stance and grip for shooting, the different types of sights available and how to take proper aim. Additionally, you will be taught the basics of sighting in and how to use your gun in various situations. This is an interactive class, not a lecture. Participants will practice exercises with real firearms using dummy ammunition.

This class is designed to give you an introduction to handguns and gun safety. Upon completion of the class, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and you will have the basic knowledge and skills to begin your journey into shooting and firearms to protect your family. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn from a professional instructor, sign up now and join us for the Basic Pistol class!

We permit children between the ages of 12 and 18 to attend at 50% of the adult rate if a parent or legal guardian registers. We believe that if firearms are going to be present in children's lives, those children should be taught correctly from an early age by a professional on how to handle firearms. Children will not be getting a Certificate of Completion. Upon registration, to add one or two children, simply click on "Family Member #1" or "Family Member #2".

Please read our FAQs to get more information.

Expectations and Outcomes

At the conclusion of the class, first time gun owners will have the skills to safely and responsibly handle firearms. And those people who are not yet gun owners but are thinking about it will have the knowledge and information to determine if gun ownership is for them.

Pennsylvania does not require completion of a safety class prior to obtaining a concealed carry permit. However, at the conclusion of this class, students will receive a "Certificate of Completion". This CoC can be used as proof that students registering for more advanced classes with Dakota Firearms have taken this introductory class. Please double check your registered name, as it will be that name which will be printed on your certificate.

Lunch will be catered by "Cooking4Autism".

And there is one final notice which should be welcomed by every student. If ten (10) or more students attend the class, a brand new, still-in-the-box, handgun will be raffled off to one lucky student. This is possible because your instructor is also a Federal Firearms Licensee and is legally entitled to raffle firearms.

Requirements

Students are permitted to bring their own personal firearm to class, but NO live ammunition in the gun, in the magazine or on their person. However, not to worry if student does not own a firearm. Instructor will provide laser trainers for use in class, which are 100% safe because they shoot a laser beam.

No refunds will be given for missed or cancelled classes. Rather, if either party, you the registrant, or Dakota Firearms Training Academy instructors, must cancel the class, registrants will be asked which future Basic Pistol class they would like their registration moved to.
