Description
Shooting to stop the threat requires precision, control, and a deep understanding of effective target zones. The most effective shots are placed in the thoracic cavity, where vital organs reside, or the optical channel, which immediately disrupts the central nervous system. Engaging threats at the right distance requires a balance of speed and accuracy, ensuring rounds land effectively while maintaining control. Confidence is built through repetition, both in dry fire and live fire, reinforcing fundamentals from 3 to 5 yards. Drills like 1R1—engaging from both the draw and a compressed high-ready position—help sharpen follow-through and reaction time. Movement is also critical; staying stationary makes you an easy target, so learning to sidestep while maintaining accuracy keeps you in control. To assess precision under pressure, the placement test challenges shooters to land three shots in a tight three-inch group from three yards in just three seconds, reinforcing accuracy, speed, and consistency.
