Description

NRA INSTRUCTOR Personal Protection Outside The Home Course

This 16-hour course (not including lunch and breaks) teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching the NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside The Home course.

Prerequisite:

  • Must have completed Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home. This is the student course and it must be completed in the Advanced Level.
  • Must be a current NRA Certified Pistol Instructor
  • Must be a current NRA Personal Protection IN The Home Instructor
  • Must have had BIT within two years. This course does not include BIT.
  • Prior to the course, Instructor Candidates must complete a WAIVER, a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
This course will teach you how to teach the NRA Basics Of Personal Protection In The Home Course. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations.
Instructor Candidates must demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes to safely teach all aspects of the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home course.

Note: Instructor Candidates must have completed level two of the basic course, which is an additional five hours on the range and approximately 115 rounds of ammunition learning advanced shooting skills.

Requirements

  1. Semi-Auto or Revolver in .380 caliber or larger.
  2. .22 calibers are not appropriate for this course.
  3. Quality strong side holster. Can be inside the waistband or outside the waistband.
  4. Quality gunbelt. (Not your casual dress belt. It won't hold up)
  5. Ammunition requirements will be emailed after you sign up.
  6. Lunch is not provided. You may bring a lunch or there are nearby options.
  7. Water, coffee and snacks are provided.
