Description
This course is only conducted by NRA certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.
The NRA Defensive Pistol course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly and with confidence.
Topics/Learned Skills are:
- How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm;
- Basic principles of concealment;
- The difference between cover and concealment;
- Drawing from the holster;
- Levels of mental awareness;
- Developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection;
- Clearing common stoppages;
- Use of pocket pistols;
- The NRA Guide to the Basics Of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook
- NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure
- NRA Defensive Pistol certificate
- Certified Firearms Training Course Completion Certificate

Documentation Requirements
This is an Advanced Course.
- You must have completed verifiable firearms training before taking this course
- Current or Former Military. Proof of ID card or DD-214
- Current or Former Law Enforcement. ID card/Badge
- Current Armed Security with Valid Armed Guard Card
- Pre-Course assessment with the instructor
- Pre-Course Private Lesson with the instructor
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
REQUIRES:
- Your gun (sorry NO.22s)
- A Holster that covers the entire trigger when holstered. Level I holster minimum. (No Pocket Holsters)
- A minimum of ONE Spare Magazines or TWO Speedloaders.
- Magazine or Speedloader holster attached to belt.
No seats are guaranteed until they are paid for.
