Expectations and Outcomes
This course will be incredibly fun for all. Students who complete this course should expect to have obtained and practiced skills with a defensive shotgun well beyond the standard square range abilities. Continued work on multiple loading and gun handling skills. New areas of learning include using and moving with a shotgun in close quarters, moving and shooting, moving while shooting, orienting to the threat. Students will establish skills in engaging multiple assailants/targets with a shotgun, both for speed, and for social responsibility (Rule 2 and 4). Establish a comfort level fixing malfunctions, and also recognizing when it is time to switch to another weapon if the shotgun is down, and practicing it, both with a sling and without. In addition, Slugs will be covered in lecture and on the range, including zero, mid-distance shooting, and emergency slug changeovers for when buckshot is not the appropriate solution to your problem. Finally have the ability to do all of this under some stress, competition, and while having a lot of fun, in order to lock the skills and knowlege in to allow correct future practice. Students who complete the course will recieve a certificate of completion. Additional awards for performance are available.
