Back Story 

1966-HAVANA,CUBA  At just 20 years old my father joined the ranks of the anti-communist, anti-Castro guerilla group called 

“Second National Front of Escambray” backed and trained by the U.S Central Intelligence Agency.

1967-HAVANA,CUBA   In July 1967 having commanded numerous prior mission he, and the team are compromised infiltrating firearms

near “Bahia Honda Bay” in westmost Pinar del Rio Providence. During resisting their arrest a brief firefight breaks out. 

Out numbered by Castro’s Revolutionary Army they are arrested and my father was sentenced to 25 years.

1970-HAVANA,CUBA  La Cabaña Fortress Prison-  As fate would have it. 

During trips to visit her brother Angel. (Also a political prisoner).  My mother Julia would end up marrying my father Francisco.

The story as I was told.  It’s that I was the by-product of conjugal visits by my parents in a “Pabellón” ( A dungeon)

Early Life

1972-HAVANA,CUBA  I was born (July 1972) in Punta Brava, Cuba a small suburb located just southwest of Havana,Cuba.

 Born to my beloved mother Julia Avila and father Francisco Avila.

1979- MIAMI,FLORIDA Having served 12 long, hunger driven Political Prison terms. Like many other migrants then. My father, and mother where ousted from Cuba put on a “freedom flight” and landed at Miami International Airport

Firearms Training 

1984- EVERGLADES,FLORIDA  My Firearms training started in a less than conventional way!  

Well before even my US Army trainings. Some 38 years ago. At the age of twelve.

Barely strong enough to pull the trigger of a Vietnam Era Colt 1911, or withstand the recoil of an AR15A1. 

Almost every weekend. I would train alongside my father who at the time was “Chief Of Military Operations” at the Alpha 66 Training Camp called “ RUMBO SUR” In English called “Camp Due South” sometimes with battle harden warriors. Some Cuban American Bay of Pig Veterans,Vietnam Veterans. 

These men and women never lost hope on the idea of another American-backed invasion after the Bay of Pigs, the members where holding themselves in readiness to support an uprising within Cuba. Training included hand to hand, pistol, rifle marksmanship, land navigation, insertions and extractions by sea. Carrying out small-unit action against enemy targets. Lastly military leadership and mindset.

PRESENT- MIAMI,FLORIDA   Post  September 11 long gone has pass that era. Currently I hold active NRA credentials on:
