Description
Description:
If you’re curious about firearms, whether for personal defense or to learn a new sport, Women On Target® is the perfect place to start. These instructional shooting clinics are designed to teach firearm safety and the fundamentals of marksmanship, giving you the confidence to safely handle and operate a firearm upon completion.
Women On Target® clinics are available only to women. They’re a safe and friendly environment, whether you’re picking up a gun for the first time or just brushing off some dust and needing a little refresher. You’ll immediately feel at ease in the half or full-day clinics and be provided with a hands-on, one-of-a-kind experience.
Experience and equipment are optional to participate.
Do you know if I need experience?
No! Women On Target® is an introductory program, so no previous experience is necessary. Whether you've never held a firearm or are just brushing up, these clinics are a great place to start.
Do I need my equipment?
No, your Women On Target® clinic will provide everything you need—a gun, ammunition, and protective eye and ear gear. If you own a gun or safety gear, you are welcome to bring it, but it is not required.
How do I sign up for a clinic?
Click here to scroll through the list of clinics and find one close to you. This list is continually updated, so if you don't find one nearby, keep checking back. When you find the one you want, call or email to register!
What can I expect to learn?
The course includes both classroom and range time. You'll learn NRA's rules for gun safety, which include understanding how to handle, operate, and store your firearm safely. You'll also be taught basics about loading and unloading your firearm, pistol grip, eye dominance, and the fundamentals of marksmanship and shooting sports.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $25.00 and covers loaner firearms, ammunition, a range fee, eye and ear protection, and, depending on the clinic, refreshments or lunch.
Is there an age restriction to participate?
Women On Target® does not have an age restriction, but clinics may issue certain limits and parent/guardian permission releases due to varying state laws and rules among different clubs.
It’s a safe and friendly environment whether you’re picking up a gun for the very first time or need a little refresher.
