NRA Advanced Defensive Pistol

Description

This is the next level of training in our Outdoors Defensive Pistol Series. 
It will continue reinforcing the fundamentals previously learned in the Basics of Pistol Shooting and the NRA Full Concealed Carry (CCW).

The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset.
The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and confidently.
As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more.
Students will receive the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate.
NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors only conduct this course.

Topics Covered

• The importance of carrying and using a pistol responsibly and ethically for personal protection. 
• How the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling are applied to concealed carry.
• Basic principles of cover & concealment 
• Mental awareness and Mental Preparation to develop a defensive mindset for carrying and using a firearm for personal protection 
• Techniques for avoiding life-threatening confrontations
• Explain the psychological and physiological changes that may occur during an attack 
• Flash sight picture 
• Reload under stress
• Clear common stoppages
• Present a firearm from concealment and shoot targets at varying distances.
• Qualify for the NRA Defensive Pistol Certificate

Expectations and Outcomes

As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: how to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment; drawing from the holster; levels of mental awareness; developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection; clearing common stoppages; use of pocket pistols; and more.
Students will receive the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate.

Documentation Requirements

***This is an Advanced Class after taking the following classes:***

students must have previously taken the Basics of Pistol Shooting and in the NRA Full Concealed Carry (CCW) (NO APPENDIX CARRY)

The NRA requires the date of birth to complete the registration process.
Please download, sign, and return the Liability Waiver / Range Rules AT Liability Waiver / Range Rules.
A Picture of the Current Valid Driver's License.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

After your NRA Full CCW class, this is the next level of learning,
real-time shooting from a holster and about 300 rounds on a
Private Outdoor Gun Range to develop the skills and create muscle memory.
