Description

In 2013, the Texas Legislature passed two separate solutions to allow educators and/or school district employees to carry handguns on campus. The options were called the "School Marshal Plan" and the "School Safety Officer Training (Guardian Plan)"

?They both are for the protection of students and have different intentions.

The School Marshall Plan was intended to give educators/employees armed law enforcement capabilities and responsibilities. On the other hand, the School Safety Officer Training, also known as the Guardian Plan was intended to solely to provide hand picked armed administrators, educators, or employees the ability to defend themselves and students in the event of an Active Shooter or "Active Killer" situation.

The overall objective of this course is to educate staff on the responsibilities related to school safety who are employees of a school district or open-enrollment charter school who hold a license to carry a handgun.
