Description

This course is designed for the shooter with some familiarity in safe handling and operation of modern pistols.  The attendee must have completed an approved Basic Pistol course as a prerequisite.  In this course the attendee will receive instruction in developing their own natural point of aim, shoot a variety of drills designed to enhance trigger control and follow up shots, learn about basic stoppages and how to address them, and shoot a qualification course that allows them to transition to more advanced training.  This is an static shooting course with no movement or concealed carry/draw training.

Topics Covered

The attendee will perform multiple shooting drills designed to enhance their safe handling, proper manipulation, common stoppage recovery, loading and re-loading ability, and more. This is a hands on, static range, shooting course.  Attendees can expect to be on their feet, on the firing line, shooting several drills.  Range orientation, safety and eitiqette will be discussed.  Range safety is paramount and flagrant safety violations will not be tolerated.

Expectations and Outcomes

Students will complete this course with a better understanding of how to prepare for and attend the range of their choice to continue training, range safety, commands and proper etiquette amongs shooters, loading, unloading and showing a clear and safe firearm, basic pistol stoppages and how to manage them, develop their own natural point of aim and enhance their static shooting skills, and more.  This course is designed to prepare the student with the skills necessary to attend more advanced training.  A basic qualification course will be offered to demonstrate the skills learned.  A certificate of completion will be given upon successful completion of this course.

Documentation Requirements

ALL students must be lawfully permitted to possess a firearm and provide State Issued Identification to be verified prior to class to ensure a safe elarning environment for all.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

A Basic Pistol course is required prior to attending this course.  Attendees who demonstrate a lack of basic pistol knowledge will be removed from the training and cycled into the next available Basic Pistol training offered.  Approved courses are to be determined by our lead instructor and must be vetted prior to registration.  

Eye and ear protection is required (may be supplied if requested at time of registration).  No sleeveless shirts or V-necks allowed.  Closed toe shoes must be worn.  A ball cap with a brim is strongly suggested.  

Hydration is a must, bring water, or hydration style drinks.  Coffee, sodas and energy drinks can have the reverse effect and cause de-hydration.  The class is approximately 4 hours long so a lunch break will not be provided so if needed, bring snacks to get you through.  

With advanced notice, a .22 caliber pistol and ammunition can be provided but attendees should have their own pistol that they are trying to become more proficient with.  Attendees should have at least one safe and functioning pistol, two ammunition sources (magazines, speed loaders), 200 rounds of quality, store bought, pistol appropriate ammunition, a properly fitted external holster (belt clip, paddle, slotted, etc).  Inside the waistband (IWB) holsters are not permitted in this training.
