Description

This class is a basic, entry level course designed for those who recently purchased a pistol, or are interested in purchasing one, and want to learn how to safely handle and fire it.  The 1st four hours are in a classroom environment to learn the basic regarding the different types of pistols, caliber options, function and design of carry options, safe handling and operation of most mondern pistols.  You will also learn the basic foundation of handgun shooting including grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, breath control, trigger manipulation and more.  

The follow up range time is a minimum of two hours where the student will put static skills learned in class in motion on a live range.  The student will also learn range safety, range etiquette, proper handling of a live firearm in a controlled range environment, and more.

Types of handguns (action, caliber, etc), nomenclature of handguns and ammunition, safe handling including loading, un-loading and showing clear, establishing a proper grip and presentation, foundation of proper stance, sight alignment and sight picture, trigger manipulation, breath control, and more.

Expectations and Outcomes

Once this course is successfully completed the attendee should have a sound foundation of Basic Pistol Operation and be better prepared to attend and complete an Intermediate Pistol class.

Documentation Requirements

ALL students must be lawfully permitted to possess a firearm and provide State Issued Identification to be verified prior to class to ensure a safe elarning environment for all.  

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

ALL Students must wear eye protection, hearing protection and appropriate clothing for the range.  Sleeveless and V necked shirts are not permitted.  Closed toe shoes are required.  A ball cap with a brim is strongly suggested for the live fire portion.  Eye and Hearing Protection can be supplied if student notifies us prior to start of class.  A .22 caliber pistol is supplied for 1st time shooters taking the Basic Pistol course.  Ammunition and targets are also supplied.  Attendees wanting to use their own pistol must notify staff 1st for approval.  NO LIVE FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION is permitted in the classroom for the 1st four hour session.
